A group of ten sentenced of cyber-bullying directed at Brigitte Macron

A French judicial body has convicted ten people for perpetrating the online harassment of Brigitte Macron, the partner of French President, Emmanuel Macron.

The those on trial faced charges of spreading fabrications regarding her gender identity and sexuality, in addition to publishing defamatory statements about the couple's significant age difference.

The court issued conditional custodial sentences of up to eight months to the convicted individuals. The full ruling has yet to be released.

A persistent false narrative alleging that Brigitte Macron is a trans woman has existed since her husband's rise to the presidency in 2017.

This recent ruling in France coincides with the Macrons engaging in a defamation lawsuit in the US against conservative commentator Candace Owens, who has repeatedly shared analogous false narratives about the first lady's biological sex.

Their legal filing alleges that Owens brushed aside all credible evidence that refuted her assertions in favour of amplify the voices of notorious conspiracy peddlers.

Owens has regularly repeated these claims on her show and social networks, and in March 2024 declared that she would bet her whole career on her belief that Mrs. Macron was born a man.

Brigitte Macron first met her now-husband when she worked as an educator at his lycée.

The two entered into matrimony in 2007, when the then-29-year-old Emmanuel Macron was 29 and she was approximately 54 years old.
